Join us at Brentwood Town Hall on Monday, May 18th to celebrate female entrepreneurship at an inaugural event packed with thought provoking TED-style talks, a female-founders Q&A and mini-mentoring sessions with a selection of truly inspiring women.
We together with Brentwood Borough Council, will host Mentor Me; a grass roots mentoring event for female business owners that's the first of its kind in the East of England. It's designed for women - at all stages of the tabletop to £1million journey - to access guidance and support, connect with a mentor, and address growth challenges.
This will be a unique chance to share experiences, ideas and hear how to overcome growth challenges such as the imbalance when it comes to the burden of care, funding, cashflow, employing a team, and operations.
Carmel Jane, Tabletop to £1m founder says: “Only 13% of the UK businesses that hit £1m turnover are run by women which means, by the law of averages, that this is the same here in our borough of Brentwood. To change this, we must address the persistent barriers that hold women back, and one of the biggest hurdles is getting access to great mentors and female role models. So, we commend Brentwood Borough Council for its foresight and support in offering to host our first free Mentor Me event on May 18th at Brentwood Borough Council Town Hall.”
Brentwood Borough Council Leader, Cllr Chris Hossack, said; “We know that in the UK £250bn of untapped economic potential is being wasted because women are not starting and scaling up businesses at the same rate as men. This means there is a huge opportunity with the right support, to grow the economy here in Brentwood and further afield. Tabletop to £1m and the Mentor Me event will fill this gap, and I have no doubt that the scheme will be successful.”
Joining us will be successful female entrepreneurs from a range of industry sectors, all of whom have overcome persistent barriers and succeeded in their personal journey of growth from tabletop to £1m. They’ll share incredible insight into their personal growth journey, successes and failures, how to maximize success, overcome adversity and more.
The morning will include three impactful TED-style talks, a Q&A panel discussion, and group mentoring sessions – each one led by one of our headline female entrepreneurs and addressing a specific growth challenge.
