Join us at Brentwood Town Hall on Monday, May 18th to celebrate female entrepreneurship at an inaugural event packed with thought provoking TED-style talks, a female-founders Q&A and mini-mentoring sessions with a selection of truly inspiring women. We together with Brentwood Borough Council, will host Mentor Me; a grass roots mentoring event for female business owners that's the first of its kind in the East of England. It's designed for women - at all stages of the tabletop to £1million journey - to access guidance and support, connect with a mentor, and address growth challenges. How TT to £1m and Brentwood Borough Council will empower female business owners across the borough20/2/2020 Last week Tabletop to £1m met Leader, Cllr Chris Hossack (right) and Chief Executive Jonathan Stephenson (left) of Brentwood Borough Council to discuss the borough’s bold new corporate strategy – Brentwood 2025 – which headlines economic growth as one of five key priorities.
A strong sense of joint purpose emerged and we’re excited to announce plans for a new partnership, the aim of which will be to support and empower female business owners across the borough. This matters, as in the UK £250 billion of untapped economic potential is being wasted because women are not starting, and scaling businesses at the same rate as men. The opportunity to grow the economy here in Brentwood cannot be underestimated. Back in November Carmel Jane spoke to The Sun, and shared her ‘snap back’ story, revealing how she was inspired to set up a £1m photography business after beating breast cancer. Talking to journalist Lydia Hawkin, Carmel shared how she’d worked through her gruelling cancer treatment, before deciding to set up a new business specialising in dance photography and celebrated the company's £1m turnover last month.
As we kicked off the Tabletop to £1million movement at our first female business event, founder Carmel Jane along with fellow business owner Katie Thomas of Juice HQ went live on air. Sharing their scaling up stories on BBC Radio Essex, as host Emma Bullimore dug deeper into the persistent barriers that still hold women business owners back.
Available to listen again on BBC Sounds until 5th February 2020 - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p07y0xn3 Today saw award winning female entrepreneur Carmel Jane launch a powerful movement of entrepreneurial women that will be a collaborative force for change across the East of England. Addressing the persistent barriers that prevent more female owned businesses reach the 1 million pound turnover threshold.
